When you get engaged, visions of bridal dresses and floral centerpieces dance in your head. You find yourself daydreaming about your wedding day, from the decor, to the venue, to the guest list.
Like so many brides and grooms this year, Katie and Scott did not envision their wedding day being disrupted by a pandemic. Because of coronavirus restrictions, this sweet couple had to make the difficult to decision to postpone their big wedding celebration with all their friends and family to next year. But, still wanting to get married on their original date, they decided to turn their planned honeymoon in Hawaii into a destination elopement. All things considered, not a bad Plan B!
But as COVID restrictions pressed on, they knew Hawaii was not going to be an option for them either. So, they decided to move their elopement plans to Lake Tahoe and take a mini honeymoon there. All the plans were set and they finally felt like they had something to be excited about after all the disappointments they had faced over the last few months.
But then the week of their trip, fires threatened Lake Tahoe, cancelling their Plan C.
This was crushing news. But their family encouraged them and helped them create a perfect Plan D: to get married in Scott’s parent’s backyard (where they had planned to get married originally) with just their immediate family in attendance.
You would have never thought that this wasn’t the wedding day Katie and Scott had originally planned. The gorgeous floral arrangements by McCann Florist, the excitement and anticipation amongst the family, and the tears of joy shed throughout the ceremony…this day was exactly what Katie and Scott needed. For the first time in their wedding planning journey, everything went just right.
Congratulations, Katie and Scott! Can you believe it? You are MARRIED!! 🙂 It was a joy to celebrate you two and your commitment to each other. We are so heartbroken for you and the disappointments you faced over the last few months. But in spite of everything you have been through, September 12th was the most perfect, beautiful day. And we know when your second celebration comes next spring, it is going to be so, so special. Thank you for letting us be a part of it all!
